HHC - Islamic Relief Partnership

A few weeks ago, I was honoured to meet Huzaifa Lorgat. He works for Islamic Relief.

What a guy!

It was absolutely amazing to hear about Islamic Relief's work in Indonesia that's helping countless victims of the tsunami that has led to low supplies of food and water, whilst devastating the lives of so many.

This got me thinking.

What can HHC do very quickly, through our base of members whilst also provide sustainable funding for these efforts?

That's exactly why we chose to partner with Islamic Relief to promote what they're doing through our social media, and donate £1 from each sale of our membership to this charity.

The reason we're doing this goes way beyond the above though. Both Zainab and I set up Halal Honours Card to stand up for those people who choose to not drink or go to clubs, and ensure they're not left out from the vast amounts of discounts, opportunities and events that they are generally excluded from. We always wanted to ensure that regardless of your social needs, you can have fun and be part of a community and make friends without compromising on your values. HHC is a movement. Its a movement that says, we, Muslims and non Muslims alike, prefer burgers, steaks, waffles and shisha over a pint. And we'd like some discount too, because we're tired of only getting discounts on cheese and tomato pizzas!

At the same time, we also established HHC to help those less fortunate. Both Zainab and I have been fortunate to travel to places like Bali and Sri Lanka, where we've seen poverty. Since then, we committed to ensuring that whatever we do is tied to some sort of social good.

And then boom! Huzaifa appeared and we clicked instantly!
