A PERSONAL NOTE FROM ZAINAB AND MUHAMMAD ALI

Dear Halalionees (that's Halal-eee-onies, yeah, we just made it up...!)

This is personal note to say happy New Year from both Zainab and I.

It’s been 198 days since we pressed that big button on Wix to finally launch our website and open Halal Honours Card to the big wide world. And we’ve been so overwhelmed by the level of support you have given us; from grabbing a membership card, to subscribing to our emails, to following us on Instagram, to buying a ticket to Saucery (our first ever Halal Honours Card event).

Thank you so much.

Some of the highlights from 2018 include:

Our first few cards being sold, within minutes of launching

Signing up one of the biggest names in food, the two Halal Subway branches in Leicester

Attending the Fresher’s fair at De Montford University and the University of Leicester

So, what’s in store for the future?

We’ve got so much to look forward to. This includes launching an app, working with our partners to make the Halal Honours Card even more flexible, signing up even more partners, as well as… explore which city to move to next!

Of course, our mission has remained, and will always remain the same. We believe every Muslim student should be able to make the most of their time at university, by being able to eat and socialize at the places THEY actually go to. And helping local businesses attract them by offering discounts during their off peak times.

We can only do this with your support. Now, I did promise myself I wouldn’t put a plug in, but I REALLY have to! We’ve got our first EVER Halal Honours Card event this month to celebrate our success so far, and show that you can have a good time as a student, without the Vodbull! We're bringing together HHC members and non HHC members for a food, magic, shisha, dessert and mocktail filled evening in one of the most stunning venues in Leicester (who of course, also happen to be one of our most supportive partners), Steak and Lounge.

If you believe that being a Muslim student shouldn’t mean having to compromise on your faith or your bank balance, then do join us for what will be lovely evening of exquisite food, eye opening LIVE magic, Rebus desserts and the finest shishas and mocktails the City has to offer.

With many of you guys on break, we’ve had numerous requests to extend the early bird deadline. We’ve now done this, but we need to know numbers ASAP for gourmet, meat filled, cheese complemented, melt in your mouth burger preparation purposes. This will be a lock off event, so no on the door entries will be permitted.
