I clearly recall sitting with Zainab on our living room floor discussing ways we were going to build our empire together. From gourmet dinner boxes delivered straight to your door to doing properties up because we'd watched a little too much Homes Under the Hammer and we're like, "pfffft that looks easy!", we finally settled on something we both really cared about.

And that was allowing Muslim students to be able to live the student life we so loved, without the pressures of having to fit into a world that at times can centre around booze, clubs and drugs.
That said, we really wanted our newly found business that we now so fondly see as our baby, Halal Honours Card, to be something that really addresses the needs of the common, young Muslim living in the UK. It's so easy to forget there used to be a time when finding a Halal restaurant was virtually impossible, limited to the cheap donner kebab corner shop with suspicious looking fury animals hiding in what can only be described as an excuse for pitta bread…

Isn't it amazing that so many chains now also offer Halal choices? From Pizza Express to Subway, Halal is now everywhere, and we are so lucky. Thus, we are now able to practise our faith so much more freely and in a way that doesn't make us out to look like Faisal from Four Lions.

However, the one thing that perhaps is still a gap in our community is matrimony. As we growingly become disillusioned with the more traditional ways of finding a spouse (cringe images of sitting on some dude's sofa watching your potential spouse carrying a cup of chaii) inserted here… we need to find another way that's perhaps more suited to the lifestyle that we're accustomed to, without feeling the need to abandon our faith.
We need to find alternative ways that are perhaps more in line with today's day and age.
We believe the time is right to explore these ways, which is why Zainab and I are so excited to announce that we're hosting a super intimate evening filled with great food (Halal of course!) cooked up and served by our friends, Fernandez Grillhouse. This will bring together just 30 people from Leicester to meet up, socialise, have a bit of banter and through the powers vested in us, enable you to begin your search for love in way that's perhaps a bit less… awkward.
Grab your tickets to our first Single and Mingle event here!
Take care guys!
