No, the above has not been taken from the front page of the Daily Mail.
However, we at Halal Honours Card thought it would be pertinent to say a little bit about what halal meat is, and hopefully remove some of the all too common misconceptions related to this particular type of dietary requirement.

Halal simply means permissible, or allowed, within the Islamic faith. That's it! That's literally all it means. It DOESN'T mean that the meat is sprayed with voodoo or used as a means of poisoning white people.
For Muslims, all meat must be cut in a certain, prescribed way to ensure the animal is slaughtered in a dignified manner in which they experience the least pain. For instance, the animal must be given water before being slaughtered and have lived in a wholesome living environment.
It all comes back to the Muslim belief that animals should be treated with respect.
So what other misconceptions shall we address? Oh! That non Muslims cannot eat halal food? Well by that logic, you'll probably have to be careful the next time you go to Pizza Express or Nando's, because guess what? Many of their branches serve halal meat. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!
Halal meat can be consumed by ANYONE. So Steve, the next time you enjoy your cheeky Nando's, relax! That Halal half chicken is all good!
Halal meat hasn't got anything to do with turning the world into Muslims, or trying to ensure only Muslims can enjoy the sweet taste of chicken! Don't be a chicken. Ah see what we did there?! Try a Halal restaurant now, you'll be amazed!
