AL JUMEIRAH

Going for shisha with the better half is tricky. You want to go somewhere that has great quality shisha but at the same time want to be able to hear them enough to have a conversation without the need of a sub woofer and a 12 piece speaker set.

You also want somewhere to get great food and dessert, without having to leave the building.

I think that's where Al Jumeirah comes in. It doesn't have the usual clubby, loud atmosphere that has become synonymous with shisha places these days. Instead, you're greeted with really bright lighting (something which Zainab is REALLY keen about), large open plan areas that still give you an aura of privacy, and some top notch desserts to satisfy those cravings.

And you can always be sure there will NEVER be music played here. Instead, be reassured you can always have a good catch up with friends and actually have a comfortably normal conversation, study (big thumbs up for the WiFi) or just watch Friends or Big Bang Theory on the huge plasma screens dotted around this huge venue, whilst relaxing with some great quality shisha.

There are so many flavours to choose from. I usually go for a frozen apple mix that usually involves some sort of mint, but there really is something for everyone.

Al Jumeirah have also hooked you up with some great food on offer, that's easy enough to eat without the need to worry about fancy cutlery. Tender steak pieces and generous portions of chips are served in a box, whilst desserts are genuinely on point. For example, whilst it may not be for some, the red velvet cookie dough is to die for! It's quite rare to find these gems, but Al Jumeirah do it. And do it well! And if it ain't your cup of mint tea, the normal ccokie dough is just as good.

With plush leather sofas, a fantastic team of guys always on hand to change your coal, give you advice from what flavours go well together, or just to have a chat about the meaning of life, combined with prompt service (your shishas are served super quick here), Al Jumeirah remains a big hit with students and in particular, Halal Honours Card members. I suppose this is also to do with the fact that they take card payments too, perhaps a huge deal for you broke students often torn between choosing the overdraft or the credit card to pay for your nights out.

Al Jumeirah also have the big games on. However, the key difference here is that the games really are the centre of attention. Be rest assured guys, on a big game night, the atmosphere is buzzing. Everyone here is there to watch the match, not be pounded by the sounds of Nicki Minaj and that boom, badamdum boom, super base. Both Zainab and I personally witnessed this a few weeks ago when the crowd went wild at every free kick, penalty and corner. It was phenomenal.

If you want one of the biggest selections of shisha flavours, a great place to be able to catch up with friends without having to worry about a club like atmosphere, some mouth watering desserts and delicious food, whilst not worrying about dress codes and heels, Al Jumeirah is the place to be!
