ROOSTERS GRILL

When I was 11 years old, I moved to Leicester from London. That was.. Well I would tell you, but I can imagine some of you maths geeks would calculate my age, so I'll leave that bit out!

But! When we moved, one of the ONLY places to go for a family meal was... Roosters. We'd all go upstairs, and be given the VIP treatment from the amazing staff, whilst having some of the best steak I've ever had.

But now, there's food places EVERYWHERE. You don't really need to travel far for your gourmet burger, or your 1am chicken fix. However, for those who know Leicester, Roosters has been around for ages! It's a Leicester landmark. A bit like saying, "yeah bro, where are you?", "yeah I'm near Roosters", or "yeah bro I'm like two doors from Roosters".

Kerrrrrr......CHING!

Personally, I can see why. Roosters is the safe, reliable but incredibly tasty option. The most important thing for me? The gazebo sauce. It is something else! It's quite literally the definition of finger lickin'! You drench that bad boy over anything and I promise you, it'll taste nice. Drench your fries, your burger, your dirty smelly socks... Trust me, they'll taste amazing.

My personal recommendations are the mozzarella sticks and of course, the gazebo chicken.

The flavours are incredible. The chicken melts off the bone whilst being served straight from the grill. The chicken breast fillet in pitta is also a very good option, with the pitta bread being soft and warm.

With their signature sauce, RIDICULOUSLY large portions and... I thought I'd never say this but... Their chips are out of this world. I can't really explain the chips. They're absolutely brilliant. See, I'm the kind of guy who prefers fries rather than large steak chips. Mcdonalds hypnotised me when I was a kid and I haven't moved from that preference since. And Roosters chips are incredible. This place has it all.

Say no to this. I dare you!

When I was a kid, Roosters was also home to one of the first Halal steak houses in the city. I clearly recall going with my family and having my first steak there. Soft, succulent and full of flavour as their gazebo sauce tantalised my taste buds bite after bite.

A heads up for the prawns too. Whilst I haven't tried them for myself, I do have a sister who is a prawn connoisseur who swears by them.

Its a great, no frills place to go for very good food. And the guys who run that place will make you feel like you're family. And I finger lickin' LOVE that.

PLUS the prices are very, very reasonable, perfect for you government funded, no need to pay back till years, free money broke students out there! JK JK JK.
